Have you always wanted to sew and make your own clothes? Let Karina take the mystery out of sewing & dressmaking. Karina will tailor a 4 week beginners course that will increase your sewing skills and confidence.

There are fantastic beginner-friendly patterns out there and you will be making a dress or top of your choice in no time, and once you’ve caught the bug you will be able to make a whole new wardrobe (disclaimer, depending on how big your wardrobe or aspirations are, I am unable to put a time limit on this).

Class numbers are small so you will have plenty of time with Karina. You will develop the skills and confidence you need to move onto more complicated makes. Plus you’ll be able to wow your friends with your new Super Power.

  • NB: All sales are final and non-refundable & dates once arranged cannot be changed once booking/payment has been received.
  • I am unable to accommodate your change of plans in week 1 or 2. If you are unable to make these either of these first two weeks after you have booked (and agreed to the Class Policies), you risk forfeiting your course fee.
  • It’s important that you are aware of this before booking.
  • You can check out the class policies by clicking here.

More Information:

For the first class you’ll need to bring:

  • If using your own Sewing machine, it must be in working order* (some homework may be required, having access to a sewing machine at home will help you keep on track)
  • We have Brother Sewing machines available on a first-come first-served basis. The cost to hire is $40 and is an option when booking your course. It is available for you to use when attending each class. You will receive a $50 credit towards a new sewing machine if you choose to buy a Brother Sewing Machine through me.
  • A sewing kit consisting of:  two spools of good quality thread (white and black or blue), fabric scissors, sewing pins, a fabric marking pen (water-soluble or chalk pencil), measuring tape and a ‘quick unpick” (A sewing kit can be purchased for $65. Please order a sewing kit here if required)

Skill Level Beginner:  You might not know anything about sewing, or maybe you are confident with threading and using a sewing machine, maybe you are able to stitch a straight seam, but are new to dressmaking, whatever beginner level you are at, let Karina tailor a 4 week course that suits your skill level.

Depending on what level you will be starting at (eg Absolute Beginner or Beginner) fabric for your projects is not included in the cost of this course. For Absolute Beginners, you will not need to bring any fabric to the first class. Karina will explain fabric and items needed going forward in the first class.

For Beginners, your first pattern is included in the cost, you will still need to buy fabric for your first make. You can choose from the Array TopTui Dress , York Pinafore, or the Heron Shirt.
