With winter (virtually) upon us, you may be thinking that a new Me Made Coat is in order. But is the doubt monkey sitting on your shoulder telling you to think again!!

With the Mallard Coat by The Sewing Revival, kick that doubt monkey to touch! This coat is totally achievable for fearless beginners and beyond. The closure options make it easy, snaps if you so choose or buttonholes if you feel up to it. It’s fully lined, but has a “hanging” lining – very easy to achieve. The collar is very straightforward too. And the pockets – fabulous with a capital FAB.

It can be made up in a huge range of fabrics and weights. It has two lengths – what takes your fancy? Short or long?

I want you to be able to work towards the MeMade coat of your dreams. Come and join me and other fabulous Sewsters for a couple of days of sewing. Laughter guaranteed- and more than likely some unpicking too, but at least we’ll be able to laugh about it together 😃.

Skill Level: Fearless Beginnger and beyond:  You will have a few sewing projects under your belt, but feel ready to tackle something a bit more challenging. If you’re more experienced, there is plenty of scope to make this project slightly more advanced.

Requirements:

  • Mallard Coat Pattern – if you’ve chosen the drop down option that includes the pattern, the printing and postage is included in the cost. You’ll receive a code once you have booked and paid that will enable you to order your pattern in your size from The Sewing Revival website
  • Fabric for your coat, including lining
  • Interfacing (depending on the fabric you choose, sometimes a sew-in interfacing will be a better option).
  • At this level we expect you to be using your own sewing machine. Your machine needs to be in working order, please do not bring a machine to class that is not in working order and expect me to get it going, if in doubt you can hire a machine for $10 per day – click here to book
  • Sewing machine manual and tools
  • Your sewing kit/notions

Prework:

  • Cutting (or tracing and cutting) out your pattern
  • Cutting out your lining and interfacing
  • Cutting out your main fabric IF you’re confident doing this, if you prefer to cut this out at the workshop – we can absolutely make this happen.

Homework

  • Depending on how far we get on day 1, there is the possibility you will be doing some homework before the 2nd week.
